Angela Hartnett opens Cucina Angelina

A great ski holiday isn’t just about exercise and comfort, it’s also about eating well. One of the world’s most respected British chefs, Angela Hartnett, has taken to the slopes of Courchevel with the recent opening of her new restaurant at Lime Wood’s little sister hotel, Portetta. She has joined forces with Head Chef, Henri Dereani, to reveal Cucina Angelina which is the first eatery of its kind in Courchevel and is Angela’s only overseas restaurant that serves Italian influenced mountain dishes with a nod to the local Savoyard cuisine.

The restaurant builds on the relaxed, casual style of Portetta which makes it the perfect apres-ski retreat. You can expect rustic mountain chic from the cosy interiors, with lots of textured wood for the floors and the bar and rich coloured fabrics on oversized sofas paired with warm leather chairs around wooden tables – the ultimate home-from-home environment.

The new restaurant has a main bar which you can see from outside the terrace and a grill kitchen which serves specialities on a daily basis on its open-style wood fired grill. The blend of Italian with French cuisine means not only will you get to experience delights such as Arancini mushroom, parmesan, mozzarella and Vitello tuna, capers and parsley, but also plenty of locally sourced produce and a range of meats and cuts that are cooked on the open grill.

If you fancy a Primi, you can choose from Agnolotti pheasant & rosemary sauce, Pappardelle mushroom, pecorino and parsley to name a few. If you have room for your Secondi, you can enjoy Agnello roasted lamb rack, rosemary and garlic or perhaps Pollo chicken Milanese, parmesan and balsamic. There is also the option to go straight to the grill where you’ll find Vitello veal chop, parmesan cream and garlic cooking. To finish off, pick from classic sweets such as Tiramisu, homemade Panacotta or Biscotti pistachio cantucci and Vin Santo – the best an Italian pastry chef can offer.
