Back to School British Style

Posted on by Lizzie Watson

Whatever camp you're in - if you've been counting down the days to the wholesome routine of school, or wishing there were a few more weeks left as you've got so much more you'd like to do and endless more places you'd like to go - the task of shoe shopping and rucksack hunting is just as wearisome.

Not to mention the fact that middle child's coat has been lost, her trainers don't fit and she now wears scrunchies in her hair, not bows. The new in is now the new out and I'm dreading the deliberation over white socks, high socks, and whether she's allowed black socks in the underwear section of M&S.

We may well be governed by the joylessness of regulation uniforms in the UK, but we can add a bit of British flair and individuality to the mix. Think coats, think bags, think hair, think hats.

Cath Kidston is right on the mark again with her cheerful, modern vintage style.

Watch them zoom off into the playground with the Novelty Medium Rocket Backpack £28> or gallop to class wearing the brilliant Little Spot Novelty Medium Unicorn Backpack £28>

Stella McCartney Kids have a fabulous range of coats to keep your child's individuality as they run to catch the bus. The Red Colour Block Donkey Panel Scout Windbreaker £64.80> and the Navy Liam Color Box Water Repellent Parka £97.20> are thoroughly modern, full of energy and highly spirited - just like the children in them!

For a bit of artistic license, why not add a Cath Kidston Unicorn Ditsy Kids Bows (2 pack) £5.50> or Super Dogs Kids Watch £16> to the mix, and as it gets a little colder, a Stella McCartney Kids Black Ace and Twiddle Gloves and Hat Set £80> is the perfect purchase.
