Deirdre Dyson’s new Vista Collection launches at Maison et Objet Paris. Deirdre’s statement carpets are the perfect way to turn uninspiring rooms into characterful, bespoke interiors.
The new collection, inspired by the beauty of the natural world features nine contemporary carpet designs.
Deirdre Dyson says: “My Vista Collection is inspired by glimpses and observations taken on walks in the countryside – standing under trees with falling leaves, enchanted by bulrushes in still water and exquisite bright green water lilies floating above a mysterious deep, dark pond. I like to use colour grading techniques and strong and subtle tonal contrasts to create optical illusions, highlighting nature’s dramatic and transient beauty.”
In pieces such as ‘Bulrushes’ and ‘Lily Pond’ Deirdre masterfully uses colour and tone to add depth and dimension. The change in contrast between light and shade in ‘Bulrushes’ create the illusion of a reflection on water, effectively mirroring a real-life, natural scene.
Each carpet is bespoke, allowing the customer to select the size, shape and colour palette of their choice. The carpets come in a range of materials, including hand-knotted Chinese or Indian silk and fine Tibetan wool, or hand-tufted in Yorkshire or Scotland from New Zealand wool. By making each carpet bespoke, Deirdre caters to different budgets and lifestyles.
The collection is set to return to the UK by the end of January and on display in Deirdre’s new gallery at 554 King’s Road, London. The gallery will host an open day on March 13 during London Design Week, when Deirdre will be showing her new designs, as well as other current pieces.
