Seven luxury spring escapes

Posted on by Beyond Bespoke

Now that spring has officially sprung it’s the perfect time to book that luxury hotel spring break in the country. Here’s our round-up of seven of the best

Understated opulence is the name of the game at Lime Wood in the New Forest. Tuck up in the main house, take over the coach house or get closer to the forest in one of the garden lodges, which have their own log fires. There’s also a fabulous spa where you can shake off winter in the double treatment rooms and take in the forest views from the enormous sauna.

Recently voted ‘The World’s Best Relaxation Retreat’ at the World Boutique Hotel Awards – and what’s more, the only English hotel to be nominated – Hotel Endsleigh in Devon is Olga Polizzi’s vision of luxury and calm sophistication. Set in 108 acres and with stunning views, it’s the perfect spot to wake up to birdsong, read a book or two, take a country stroll and enjoy some really good food.

Tucked away in the Mendip Hills in Somerset, The Pig near Bath has a greenhouse restaurant, a private room for dinner parties, 29 bedrooms and massage treatment rooms – as well as that cool shabby chic elegance that has become the group’s signature style.

Chewton Glen in Hampshire has one simple aim: “To make every guest want to return” – and the mix of luxury and effortless, intuitive hospitality means that plenty do. For a truly unique experience, why not book one of luxury treehouse suites, which are built high among the trees of a secluded valley, and are just the place to unwind, relaxing, and simply be..

There’s a reason why people keep returning to Babington House in Somerset time and time again – it just does cool luxury faultlessly. For those with an eye to the “Big Day”, the 18-acre early Georgian estate also offers the perfect setting for a traditional country wedding party, with a slightly bohemian twist.

Describing itself as a “reinvention of the traditional English inn”, the Wild Rabbit in the heart of the Cotswolds combines chic pared-down style with the best in creature comforts: sumptuous mattresses, pure linen sheets and beautifully presented bathrooms. Four of the rooms have access to the garden and dog beds are available on request.

The Talbot Inn in Mells prides itself on having the atmosphere of a country inn but all the comforts of a smart hotel. There is a main bar, snug, courtyard and map rooms, which are all open every day for classic pub food and drink, and upstairs there are eight bedrooms, two with adjoining children’s rooms. Separated by a cobbled courtyard is the 500-year-old Sitting Room, Coach House Grill Room and a pretty garden. The Talbot Inn
