Summer Seaside firework displays

Posted on by Abbie Coombes

Whether you're enjoying a seaside holiday, or you're only a car's distance away from the coast, make sure this summer break goes off with a bang by enjoying a spectacular firework display; all with a picturesque British seaside town providing the backdrop.

It was only last weekend that I attended the first of many firework displays, that will be taking place throughout August on Bournemouth's sea front. Upon arrival, I made my way through Bournemouth's lower gardens and passed the pavilion, where saxophones, trumpets, clarinets and trombones created tunes that transported you back to a 1920s dance hall. The public were invited to try for themselves, cross steps, kick throughs and Charleston turns, with the guidance of a professional dancer; there were smiles all around. After having 'thrown' some rather questionable dance moves, the sun was beginning to set and my nose led me to warm and fresh doughnuts being sold in a stand within the gardens. Now stocked up on sweet treats, we made our way down to the seafront, where the crowds were beginning to assemble.

As it became darker, and we were stood by the beach, there was no sand to be seen, just people in tents, or wrapped in blankets; but all eagerly anticipating the vibrant pops of colour that would soon illuminate the sky. It reached 10pm and an encore of 'oohs' and 'aahs' commenced, lasting the duration of the display. Phones were taking instagrammable photos, videos and livestreams; there was a great feeling of disappointment when it was all over!

We take a look at some seaside firework displays that will be taking place over the next few weeks, proving that they don't just have to be saved for the 5th November!
