If you’re not in London, or you’re not planning on heading to the bars this weekend, why not stir things up a bit and host your own cocktail evening in the luxury of your own home, featuring some classic drinks and exotic garnishes?
We are all partial to mixing up our G&T’s, or our whiskey on the rocks, but when it comes to cocktail making, it can be just as easy; if you have the right tools for the job and a dash of imagination, it’s as exciting to make up a name for the cocktail as it is to think of ingredients!
Here are 6 specially selected weekend cocktail-making must-haves.
The award winning Heliot Steak House in London’s West End, have teamed up with 808 Whisky to create three exclusive cocktails that will be served throughout the week, and the aptly British named, Nelson’s Column is one of them;
50 ml 808 Whisky
25 ml fresh grapefruit
15ml lime Juice
10ml gum syrup
4 x drops of peach bitters
1 x tsp Benedictine
Grapefruit peel (to garnish)
Shake all ingredients together. Strain and served in a rocks glass with crushed ice and garnish with grapefruit peel.
With a Fortnum & Mason hamper, you can take your cocktail making skills anywhere; a hike in the hills, or a cliff top walk as the sun sets beyond the ocean.
