The Talbot Inn is a traditional yet stylish coaching inn located in the heart of the historic village of Mells, five minutes from Frome in some of Somerset’s most stunning countryside.
There is a main bar, a snug, and cosy dinings rooms which are all open every day for classic pub food and drink. Separated by a cobbled courtyard is the 500-year-old Sitting Room, Coach House Grill Room and a pretty garden. On weekends in the Grill, food is simply grilled on an open charcoal and wood fire and served at long shared tables, much like inns did hundreds of years ago.
Upstairs there are eight bedrooms, two with adjoining children’s rooms. All eight bedrooms have king-sized or emperor-sized beds and are fitted out with Smart TVs and internet radios with iPod docking stations. Crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, Siberian goose down duvets and Vintage Welsh blankets adorn the beds whilst a comfy armchair or sofa sits on the natural seagrass floor.
In the pub there is a regularly changing menu from day-boat landed fish and chips, well-aged steaks from well-reared cattle, and always a pie, to more substantial mains such as pan fried loin of venison with roasted garlic, mash and curly kale. Our menus change with the season and we use local ingredients where possible, ensuring the best produce, some of which is grown in our own kitchen garden. Almost everything is made, cured or smoked in-house.
Two hours from London by car or train and 20 minutes from Bath, The Talbot offers great food in a classic pub environment with all the comforts of a smart hotel.
