The Royal Academy of Arts

Living Artists. Leading Art.‎

The Royal Academy of Arts was founded by King George III in 1768. It has a unique position in being an independent, privately funded institution led by eminent artists and architects whose purpose is to be a clear, strong voice for art and artists. Its public programme promotes the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate.

The Royal Academy Shop

All products on the Royal Academy online shop have been carefully chosen for their quality and artistic or stylistic merits. Many of our products are exclusive to the Royal Academy and designed in collaboration with some of the leading names in contemporary art – the artist and architects at the heart of the RA. We also promote the work of emerging designer-makers, with all products curated and selected based on aesthetics, form and function.
The RA receives no government funding and depends on the generosity of supporters. Proceeds made from sales help to support the aims and programmes of the Royal Academy, including the RA Schools, Europe’s only free and independent three-year postgraduate programme.
