Cowdray Park Polo Club is recognised worldwide as the ‘home of British polo’. The club’s extensive polo grounds are located in outstanding countryside within the South Downs National Park at Midhurst, West Sussex, where the present Lord Cowdray’s grandfather founded his own polo club in 1910. By 1911 competitions were up and running including the Cowdray Park Challenge Cup – still played for today.

The club is the venue for the world-famous Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship, sponsored by luxury watchmakers Jaeger-LeCoultre, and ranked alongside the Argentine Open and USA Open in world polo terms.

As well as the four weeks of the Gold Cup tournament and an international match in May, a wide range of low and medium goal polo is available to play or view and new members are made really welcome. A polo academy was launched in 2015 offering expert tuition and an easy introduction to polo at Cowdray Park.
