London’s most venerable barbershop, Truefitt & Hill, is also the oldest barbershop in the world, as certified by the Guinness Book of World Records, and was founded by William Francis Truefitt in 1805, the year of the battle of Cape Trafalgar and the beginnings of the Napoleonic wars. Truefitt was originally a wig maker and indeed he received the royal warrant from King George III. That warrant was retained as Truefitt supplied perfumes to George IV and hairdressers and perfumers to Queen Victoria. Today we have the privilege of attending HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family.

Truefitt & Hill can be found in historic St James’s Street; situated in the heartbeat of London’s gentleman’s clubs and a stone’s throw away from St James’s Palace. Along with an unsurpassed range of high quality products, our talented master barbers are on hand to attend to the every need of today’s discerning gentleman, performing both traditional and contemporary haircuts as well as traditional hot towel wet shaves, manicures, facials and many other services required to ensure our clientele are ready to face the world with their best face forward.

From legendary figures from the world of arts and entertainment such as William M Thackeray, Oscar Wilde and Frank Sinatra to those who have shaped the history of the world such as The Duke of Wellington, Sir Winston Churchill and Field Marshall the Viscount Montgomery of Alamain, glancing at Truefitt’s appointment book is like reading a ‘Who’s Who’ of distinguished society.
