This is a book you can turn to time and time again, and for generations to come; with a limited palette, bold colour, strong tone and a deep sense of love for their subject matter, the pictures in the Every Boys Alphabet are both intimate and universal in their theme and appeal. They capture every part of childhood, making them relatable to everyone, astoundingly timeless and entirely ageless.
A skilful unity of three very talented creatives, this book is the most wonderful keepsake and delightful upon every bookshelf and at every bedside.
Artist Luke Martineau is a painter of landscapes, portraits and still life. He is much in demand for his conversation pieces of families and children in particular. Poet Kate Bingham is the author of two novels, several screenplays and three collections of poetry.
Kate Holland is a multi-award-winning bookbinder specialising in contemporary fine binding. She is a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders and has books in public and private collections around the world including the British and Bodleian Libraries. She has been commissioned again to bind one of this year’s Booker Prize shortlisted titles for presentation to the author.
Each book is handbound in blue cloth with a matte black handblocked image, and comes in a numbered presentation box and wrapped in corresponding Alphabet paper with coordinating ribbon.
They are numbered out of 150 and signed by the artist and poet.
(Kate's leather bound, limited editions feature perfectly cut leather lettering and tiny golden painted elements, and are a joy to behold.)
