Say goodbye to the cold, frosty winter months and get ready to say hello to brighter evenings, warmer days and the promise of a sun-filled summer. Now would be a good time to uncover your classic, wash off any residues from the gloomy winter, grab your polisher, car wax and a nice pair of sunnies and start preparing yourself for a variety of upcoming classic car shows.

The beauty of a classic car show isn’t just about the nostalgia, the wide selection of vehicles to feast your eyes upon or even the guilty pleasure of enjoying the aroma from the burger stalls. The beauty of the show is about how much diversity it can offer to people of all ages, tastes and styles. Whether you have your own classic that you are keen to show off, an enthusiast looking to have a good fuel fuelled weekend or if you are just simply looking to get into the car scene. Visiting one of these shows will guarantee to not only provide you with a great weekend, it will give you the chance to meet like-minded enthusiasts – and of course that valuable Instagram material.

Really retro and classic car Straffordshire
The first place I recommend visiting would be the ‘Really retro and classic car’ show in Straffordshire. Judging by last year’s fantastic photos and range of vehicle entries, this is a car show you will be happy to travel too. Open to all retro vehicles, from cars, bikes and commercial vehicles straight from the 1940’s to 1992, this event boasts it’s competitions, traders, cars for sale and much more. Situated on an old WW2 runway, this is sure to be a great venue to exhibit, show off or just dribble at the selection of cars available. Tickets cost as low as £5.00 per person, to display your car it costs £3.50 and children under 12 go for free.

Bristol Volksfest
This is a show that I always look forward too every year, having attended Bristol Volksfest in the past, with full intentions of visiting again this year, I would highly recommend booking as soon as you can. Offering a mesmerising display of a huge variety of vehicles from the highly modified weird and wacky to the completely standard original, this show offers sights that no Volkswagen show has seen before. Whether you are looking for a single day pass, a weekend camping or even trying your hand at the shows exclusive glamping facilities, this show has no limits to what it can offer the enthusiast and the family.

Not only does Bristol Volksfest give you classics to drool and grow envious of, it also features a Vaudivelle/Circus theme, offering fancy dress competitions, sword swallowing and plenty more antics and activities over the weekend. Music from the ‘main stage’, blasting out some of the finest local bands such as ’The Wurzels’ and ‘Future Dub Orchestra’ and the infamous ‘Show and Shine’ which is certainly not to be missed.

Classic cars on the prom Christchurch Dorset
Another great show to attend is the ‘Christchurch Quay, Classic cars on the prom’. Set on a riverside site in the heart of the beautiful Christchurch, this show offers approximately 200-300 pre-83 vehicles with FREE entry to those attending. Chris Evans made an appearance with his Aston Martin DB5 at Classic Cars On the Quay Christchurch on Sunday 1st September 2013. The show is perfectly placed near cafés, shops children’s play areas and other historic places to visit so the entire family can be entertained.

Bentley Drivers Club at Silverstone.
If you are after more of a specific event and you find yourself to be a huge sports cars enthusiast or just love the sight of a fabulous display of Bentleys in action then the ‘Bentley Drivers Club at Silverstone’ is the place to visit this summer. Full to the brim with live music, hog roasts and of course the main feature, the big selection of Bentley’s with a life span of nearly 100 years. This event is suitable for both racers and owners of Bentley’s or the non-racer and onlooker, the Bentley parade is open to all members for a small contribution at the amazing Silverstone racing track.

London Classic Car Show
Finally, a show with future dates you need to keep free in your diary is ‘The London Classic Car Show’ this is a must-attend event for any discerning classic car owner, collector, expert or enthusiast, whether it is just for the day or the whole weekend. Having attended the February 2017 exhibit I have to admit it is not a car show to miss. From the old and vintage to the latest and newest releases, the London Classic Car Show truly brings together an international celebration of the very best dealers, manufacturers, car clubs and products all under one roof. Set in London, one of the show’s unique – and one of my favourite features – is an indoor driving runway where classic cars are fired up and driven around, giving off that addicting aroma of petrol and burnt rubber. The 2018 dates have just been announced, so why not treat yourself to a special league of classic car viewing when the tickets go on sale.
