Recalling memories of perfect parties past, you may conclude that vintage wine and plentiful guests were the only ingredients that were really necessary. However, you may have missed the small details that can subtly make a party so much more memorable – whether it’s through aesthetics or pure practicality.  Take a look at these DIY party features that will take your party from good to great.

Pretty Ice Buckets
You’re bound to have bottles of alcohol at the ready, and if it’s a hot day, you’ll want to keep them cool. Do it the pretty way, by creating your own ice buckets using only 2Ltr plastic bottles and fruit. Click here for the full tutorial.

Fruity Vases
These vases look deliciously splendid, and are a fun way to display colourful bouquets. You can also use the fruit extracted from the ‘vase’ for smoothies, fruit salads or for the iced fruit cubes described below. Click here for the full tutorial.

Flower Arrangements
You can’t have a vase made of fruit without flowers to put in it. Harmonise the fruity exteriors with bright summery-coloured flowers. We’re thinking exotic oranges, pretty pinks with perhaps a touch of lilac – just like this bouquet from Bloom & Wild. They will bring a lightly floral scent to the party, whilst adding pops of colour to add to the summer vibe.

Iced Fruit Cubes
Why settle for boring cubes of frozen water in your summer punch when you can use frozen fruit instead. Instead of watering down your drink as it melts, the iced fruit will add even more flavour. You can use frozen berries, slices of citrus fruit, or even fruit smoothie poured into the ice cube tray.

Atmospheric Lighting
Whether the party is winding down or only just starting, when dusk comes you may need to balance out the darkness with the soft glow of string lights and candles. Have the string lights draped overhead or along the fence, whilst candles in birdcages and lanterns will make the evening much more atmospheric.

Flavour Bar
To cater to all tastes, why not set up a ‘flavour bar’ hosting an array of cordials which can be used to flavour spirits or ciders alike. Bottlegreen have a great selection of cordials and sparkling pressés, including elderflower, plump summer raspberry, and coconut and lime.
