Triumph Motorcycles break land speed record

Posted by , 27th December, 2016

Congratulations are in order for Triumph Motorcycles. In an historic moment, the premium British motorcycle brand have smashed their 46 year old land speed record, in the appropriately named Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner.

Piloted by TT legend Guy Martin, the Infor Rocket earned the title as the world’s fastest ever Triumph by achieving a dizzying speed of 274.2 mph. The previous record stood at 245.667 mph and was held by legend Bob Leppan in the Gyronaut X-1. What actually travelling at either of those speeds feels like is almost unfathomable for most of us – I suppose the nearest thing we have to compare it to is the sheer acceleration and exposure you get on a rollercoaster.

The Triumph Infor Rocket boasts some seriously impressive credentials. Think two turbocharged Triumph III engines which work to produce an eye-watering 1,000 bhp at 9,000 rpm. And of course the exterior reflects the mechanical might of the engine – the motorcycle is 25.5 feet long, 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall. Talk about not doing things by halves.

After breaking the Triumph land speed record on 8 August 2016 in what have been described as near perfect conditions, Martin commented: “It’s good and we are moving in the right direction, but it is just one step on the way to what me and team are here to do.” His growing confidence on the Bonneville salt flats in Utah have us all poised for him to soar to speeds in excess of 376. 363 mph, beating the overall land speed record for a motorcycle.

Aside from their record breaking antics, Triumph Motorcycles offer an impressive range of distinctive motorcycles, clothing and accessories which you can browse here. Their range includes Modern Classic, Adventure, Sport, Cruiser and Touring Motorcycles. Reflecting their rich British history dating back to 1902, expect premium quality all the way with Triumph.

And that’s not all: British luxury clothing and accessories brand Belstaff will be supporting Triumph Motorcycles in their venture to be the fastest on two wheels. We think this is a match made in heaven. Belstaff too have a long history steeped in the spirit of adventure as a luxury lifestyle brand. Industry expert, Chris Ramsey says that “partnerships are effective when both brands serve the same client.” Choosing to document Guy Martin’s practice runs with consumers demonstrates Belstaff’s drive for perfection and shared passion for the daring.

What aligns the brands most closely, we think, is the Belstaff Pure Motorcycle Collection. Not to be sniffed at, the collection boasts stylish and technical performance wear for the road.
